UK distributor exceeds VTL sales expectations.

Sepaton : 20 November, 2007  (Company News)
Demand in the UK for the latest in distributed storage and back up techniques has resulted in bumper half-year sales figures for Sepaton's UK distributor, Hammer.
Sepaton has announced sales figures of more than $1 million USD through Hammer just six months after selecting the storage specialists as its sole UK distributor.

Hammer, which partnered with Sepaton back in April, is the leading UK distributor dedicated to storage technologies. It represents a range of new and emerging technologies as well as established storage solutions. The company distributes Sepaton's virtual tape library (VTL) and other products geared towards the small to medium business market.

With a range of training and support tools available to resellers, including an intranet, pricing tools, configurators, whitepapers, technical seminars and knowledge specialists, Sepaton ensures that all the right channel resources are available when needed. Demonstration units are available at sites throughout the UK, so potential customers can experience the ease, simplicity and speed of Sepaton's solutions at first hand. Sepaton and Hammer also have a programme that allows resellers to install Sepaton products in their own demonstration centres.

Sepaton has a lead generation programme covering Europe, Middle East and Africa, featuring events, e-shots, newsletters, online and print advertising, press relations, industry analyst briefings and dedicated telemarketing campaigns. These marketing resources and the resulting leads are available to resellers as part of the Hammer/Sepaton reseller programme.

"Sepaton is proving an ideal partner because it offers resellers more than one sales opportunity. Resellers are cottoning onto the fact that if they sell one VTL then there are further sales opportunities that can help their customers become be fully compliant in terms of their storage set-up. The end user is happy and protected and the reseller gets to develop a close relationship and an additional revenue stream," said James Ward, managing director of Hammer.

He continued, "By educating the end user in terms of their data storage and highlighting its importance to the organisation, Sepaton is also providing solutions that offer restore times that match customer specific requirements."

"Hammer understands the storage market inside out. Resellers respect Hammer because it helps them recognise, own and close a deal, which is what makes it the most successful storage distributor in the UK today," said Christo Conidaris, sales director for Sepaton Europe.

Hammer has taken the lead on Sepaton's S2100-DS2, which provides the ideal data storage solution for IT managers that face an increasing range of responsibilities across their own departments, and include back-up as part of their remit. Sepaton's new VTL provides instant restore of data capabilities, longer retention time for data, and because the system emulates tape, there are no conflicts with existing technology and disk can easily and cost-effectively be added, as storage needs grow.

The Sepaton S2100-DS2 is a turnkey disk-based appliance that simulates a tape library. The VTL guarantees high levels of reliability and performance, improving performance by up to three times, compared to tape devices, while also providing instant restores to data stored on the appliance. The S2100-DS2 optimises storage space and hardware, dramatically reducing heating and power costs normally associated with disk based data protection. The VTL provides a very cost-effective answer for resellers to solve once and for all the current and recurring backup problems faced by many of their end user customers.
