Innovision's Topaz Near Field Communication tags will enable mobile devices to be connected to speaker systems and stream audio traffic. |
|
Near Field Communications (NFC) is set to get the party started with the world's first NFC-enabled speakers. The new Parrot Party Black Edition speakers â€" the first commercialised speaker system to integrate the emerging short-range wireless technology â€" will incorporate Innovision Research & Technology's Topaz NFC Tag.
The speakers are set to revolutionise the way people download and listen to music, which will become as simple as touch. The user touches an NFC-enabled mobile phone â€" like the soon-to-be-available Nokia 6212 Classic â€" to the Parrot Party speakers to set up a Bluetooth connection and stream music live to the speakers.
The Innovision Topaz tag, built into the speaker, performs the pairing simply and automatically, removing the need to go through time-consuming pairing menus and settings â€" particularly useful if there are a number of Bluetooth devices within range. The speakers can also pair with other Bluetooth devices such as MP3 players, PCs and Macs, although without NFC users will still need to go through menus to pair up.
The 6W Parrott Party Black Edition speakers, which are lightweight and portable and play around two and half hours on full charge, will be available in the Summer.
Innovision Topaz NFC tag samples are available in a variety of formats from the company now.
