Strategic IT asset management alliance

Vector Networks Inc : 12 December, 2007  (Company News)
Endeavours Technologies and Vector Networks join forces to allow dynamic planning to work in conjunction with IT asset management.
IT asset management software vendor Vector Networks Technologies announces a strategic agreement with Endeavours Technologies which will see Endeavours' AppExpress application streaming and Virtualisation technology integrated with the newly released Version 5 of Vector Software Asset Management. This module of the "Vector Virtualisation" initiative gives user organisations the ability to dynamically plan and implement migration to application provision via streaming.

In the new partnership, signed with Vector's Atlanta sales and marketing subsidiary Vector Networks, Vector will be delivering this message to Vector's US, Canadian and South American customer base. The agreement complements one signed earlier this year in which Vector's exclusive EMEA channel partner Virtual Network Partners agreed to add AppExpress to their portfolio of system management and Virtualisation products and services.

Kevin Kiley, Vector's VP Sales in Atlanta, observes "Our feeling from listening to our customers is that application streaming is becoming much more widely understood as a pragmatic approach to virtualisation, but it is still a very challenging step to take. A clear picture of existing software deployment and patterns of usage are both vital for supporting decisions to switch applications to streaming." "The discovery that you need more application licences than you have already bought is a key moment for starting down the Application Virtualisation path".

Erick Yanez, VP Engineering identifies Vector's Software Usage Monitoring as strategically important. "Over the last four years we have evolved the data management side of our software usage monitoring to where it retains highly granular information on usage, supporting drill-down analysis from enterprise level summaries down to patterns of use on individual PCs. This structured information helps organizations predict the impact of a transition to streaming on selected applications."

Vector sees customer adoption of Endeavours' AppExpress as a consultative process. Kiley notes, "Customers have been adopting our Issue Tracker software for handling a wide range of business issues - such as regulatory compliance - and we see great scope for using the software's issue escalation capabilities to manage the analysis, decision and implementation processes that are part of adopting streaming." "It's great to be able to supply not only the core Virtualisation technology, but the tools to support its implementation."

Vector expects to start engaging its customer base in evaluations of AppExpress with Vector Asset Management Version 5 early in 2008.
