Secure sharing of high speed internet

D-Link : 12 September, 2007  (New Product)
D-Link's latest wireless access point enables shared high speed internet access with robust security
With businesses demanding a fast and flexible way to share a high-speed internet connection, D-Link has introduced the DAP-1353 Wireless N Access Point. Delivering high performance Wireless N connectivity, flexibility and robust security, the DAP-1353 is an ideal networking solution for home-workers and office users who demand the best from their wireless network.

Designed to be extremely flexible, the DAP-1353 supports five operation modes. These include; an Access Point (AP) to act as a central hub for wireless users; a Wireless Distribution System (WDS) bridge to easily create dedicated building-to-building links; a wireless client to give wireless N connectivity to any Ethernet-enabled device, such as a printer or a gaming console; and a Repeater to extend the wireless coverage to eradicate all "dead" spots. These built-in functions give the DAP-1353 the versatility to meet the ever-changing and demanding requirements of various business environments. Despite its sophistication, the DAP-1353 is also very easy to set-up; it features D-Link's Click'n Connect (DCC), an intuitive software wizard that runs directly from the product CD-ROM, helping anyone without technical knowledge to easily install and configure the Access Point.

As customers want the assurance that they can connect to their network without the worry of people hijacking their system, robust security is also a key feature of the DAP-1353. The Access Point features WPA/WPA2-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access with Pre-Shared Key), a method of data encryption that has never been cracked, provided the key is strong enough. User authentication can also be enforced by using the Access Point in conjunction with a RADIUS server, to protect against outside intrusion.

The D-Link DAP-1353 Wireless N Access Point is an 802.11n-ready device that delivers real world performance of up to 650% faster and 5 times farther than an 802.11g wireless connection. Featuring D-Link's trademark Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna design, which is at the heart of the new Wireless N standard, the DAP-1353 can achieve wireless speeds of up to 300 Mbps and also eradicates wireless "dead" spots.

Based on the draft IEEE 802.11n specification, the DAP-1353 is guaranteed to comply with the final version of the standard through a mere firmware update, ensuring lasting use in business environments. Furthermore, Wireless N technology remains fully compatible with older 802.11g and 802.11b standards, so the entire network does not need an expansive upgrade to maintain connectivity. In order to reflect the potential life of these products, the DAP-1353 is covered by D-Link's unrivalled 11-year warranty, which expands across the entire Wireless N portfolio.

"The DAP-1353 is a powerful and versatile solution for home or office users wanting to integrate high speed wireless connectivity into their network," said Bentley Lo, UK Product Manager, D-Link. "This highly scalable Access Point allows businesses to easily implement Wireless N networking without worrying about coverage, whilst making a long term investment."

The DAP-1353 comes with a recommended retail price of £119.99 Inc VAT
