Schiphol hosts security for travellers forum

ID World : 20 May, 2008  (New Product)
With its breakthrough Privium program from registered travellers, Schiphol airport proves the ideal host for Registered Traveller Forum addressing security for frequent travellers.
Dartagnan, a Registered Traveller service provider specialized in design, implementation and operation of biometrically enabled border control and registered traveler (RT) programs, announces today that it is a Gold Sponsor of the Registered Traveler Forum.

Dartagnan will feature prominently at the two-day international conference and exhibition taking place at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on May 22 and 23.

During the event, Dartagnan¹s role in the upcoming Expedited Traveler Initiative between the Governments of the USA and the Netherlands will be announced by Schiphol Group's President and CEO Prof. Gerlach Cerfontaine. Mr Cerfontaine will elaborate on passing through the airport of the future and the role that Registered Traveler Programs will have in that respect.

Nanne Onland, Director of Schiphol Group's fully owned subsidiary Dartagnan looks back at more than 8 years of Schiphol Group / Dartagnan involvement in establishing Registered Traveller Programs. "In the late 90's Schiphol Group decided to develop the Privium program to anticipate the needs of frequent travellers for value added-services at the airport. Passenger profiles showed that a relatively small number of very frequent travellers constituted an extremely important passenger group for Schiphol airport and that commercial services could be created to facilitate their airport experience. It added to the overall quality perception of the airport and strengthened the customer relationship," comments Nanne Onland. "Privium is a great success and was the first of its kind in a market which is at present developing quickly. We recently opened up Saphire, a similar program in Indonesia, and we are making our considerable experience and programs available to parties that want to create Registered Traveler programs. We are involved in the development of a number of international activities whereby we focus on providing travelers a seamless experience across airports, thus offering them interoperable expedited facilities."

Organised by Wise Media, the Registered Traveler Forum welcomes government representatives, border security and immigration officials, law enforcement and asylum authorities, airport authorities, frequent flyer program operators, embassy and consulate personnel, supporting organisations, as well as technology vendors and experts.
