American Science and Engineering will supply a US Government agency with robotic based Z Backscatter technology for the detection of Improvised Explosive Devices |

American Science and Engineering has announced the receipt of a multimillion dollar contract award for the delivery of a modular Z Backscatter system from a US government agency for remote IED (improvised explosive device) detection and defeat.
The system will use AS&E's Z Backscatter X-ray technology for IED defeat that will provide bomb technicians with the ability to remotely interrogate a suspect device and produce an X-ray image. Further, upon determination that IED components are present, the system will allow the operator to transition into an immediate neutralization procedure against the device using precision targeting data.
"AS&E continues to innovate high-tech solutions to meet the evolving needs of the military and bomb squad community," said Anthony Fabiano, President and CEO. "These systems will provide ground-breaking new capabilities for IED defeat technology, allowing high threat bomb technicians to perform, diagnose, and defeat without the risks of manually approaching suspect devices."
