Ken Okumura joins Qualys as the company's Vice President of Engineering and will spearhead Qualys' development efforts to support the growth and expansion of the QualysGuard Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for security and compliance. |

With 22 years' experience building and scaling core internet infrastructure, Okumura was most recently at Google through the acquisition of Postini where he was Vice President of Engineering responsible for building its SaaS platform to deliver message security, archiving, encryption and compliance solutions to over 40,000 customers worldwide.
'Software is moving into the cloud and customers now have realised that delivering applications in the browser is much more effective and less costly and will provide them with more security and richer capabilities. I am a true believer in the SaaS model which is one of the drivers that attracted me to Qualys," said Okumura. "Qualys has a proven track record of leveraging a SaaS platform to deliver vulnerability and compliance management solutions that enable enterprises to meet the increasingly demanding business and regulatory environments they face in the contemporary market.'
Built on the world's widest deployed SaaS security solution, QualysGuard is the platform for delivering next generation security risk and compliance management solutions that allow security managers and auditors to get a continuous view of a company's security and compliance posture. T
he QualysGuard SaaS platform is now performing more than 150 million IP production scans per annum. It remotely manages over 5,500 scanner appliances deployed in 85 countries, supporting more than 3,500 customers, including 35 of the Fortune 100, and more than 240 of the Forbes Global 2000.
'Ken Okumura joins us at a time when an increasing number of companies are embracing SaaS solutions to effectively manage their security and compliance initiatives,' said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. 'His expertise in secure online technologies and experience in building and delivering SaaS security solutions that scale will benefit our customers and partners as we continue to expand the Qualys technology platform to deliver new services.'
Prior to Postini, Okumura was Vice President of Engineering at VeriSign where he developed and managed its cryptographic, PKI and payments systems. Earlier in his career he held engineering management positions at VISA International and GTE Government Systems. Okumura earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
