Proofpoint continues to break records into the second half of 2008

ProofPoint : 01 September, 2008  (Company News)
E-mail archiving and data retention products still enjoying record levels of customer demand as Proofpoint enters its 21st quarter of record successes
Proofpoint has announced that Q2 2008 was the company's 20th consecutive record-breaking quarter with quarterly bookings, revenue, number of transactions and customer acquisition all reaching their highest levels to date.

"We are thrilled with the current momentum, and will continue to lead the industry with our primary focus on email by bringing the most innovative products to our customers," said Gary Steele, CEO of Proofpoint. "Email is recognized as a mission critical business tool, yet many organizations still struggle to keep their email systems safe, secure and easy-to-use. With the ongoing threat of data leakage, the increasing need to archive email and increasing spam and virus attacks, companies need to make email infrastructure protection a top priority. Whether it be with an on-premise solution, a SaaS deployment or a hybrid approach, it is now more crucial than ever that email is secure from inbound and outbound threats."

Technology analysts IDC estimate that the worldwide messaging security market will grow to a $5 billion market in 2012, with hosted services experiencing the strongest growth (Worldwide Messaging Security 2008-2012 Forecast and 2007 Vendor Shares, IDC, August 2008). In Q2 2008 Proofpoint saw evidence of this through strong adoption of Proofpoint on Demand, the company's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) email security offering, along with growing interest in hybrid solutions, which combine on-premise and on-demand offerings. During the quarter, Proofpoint introduced two new SaaS offerings: Proofpoint Email Archiving—based on technology acquired through the purchase of on-demand email archiving vendor Fortiva—and Proofpoint on Demand—Standard Edition, its "no-compromise" hosted email security solution targeted at the small- and medium-sized business market.

During the quarter, Proofpoint also introduced the Proofpoint Secure File Transfer solution, which lets end users send large files—and files that require enhanced security—quickly and easily, while minimizing the impact of large attachments on their organization's email infrastructure.

During Q2, Proofpoint added a record number of new customers, many of which converted to Proofpoint from competing solutions such as Google (Postini), Secure Computing (CipherTrust) and Cisco (IronPort)

International growth continued to be strong during Q2 2008. Business in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region more than doubled from Q1 2008 to Q2 2008. Operations in Europe more than doubled business over Q1 2008 and Proofpoint established new channel partnerships in the UK, France and Spain. The region also expanded its Proofpoint on Demand footprint with new customers in the UK and France.
