PoE door unit and portable card reader from CEM Systems

CEM Systems : 08 May, 2009  (New Product)
Mobile access control available with the portable card reader for ID card validation at remote locations
CEM Systems has announced the release of the DIU 230 (PoE+ Door Interface Unit) and the S3020 portable card reader. The products will be on display for the first time at IFSEC, 11th - 14th May, NEC, Birmingham, UK.

Building on the success of the DIU 220, the DIU 230 delivers power and Ethernet communications via CAT5/6 Ethernet cable, eradicating the need to provide local mains power at the door. When combined with the AC2000 product range, the DIU 230 offers a complete IP-based access control solution.

The DIU 230 has an output of 2 Amps, providing power to support up to 2 complete door sets (consisting of entry and exit readers, heavy duty Maglock, door holder, sounder and strobe). The DIU 230 also features:

* Battery backup allows continued door functions even with loss of communications to host.
* Tamper alarm inputs on board.
* Can be used in conjunction with the eDCM300 series of door controllers

The DIU 230 provides a cost-effective way to bring power to a door. The DIU 230 installation is classed as low voltage and can be completed by security integrators and IT network installers without the expense of an electrician or electrical contractor.

The new S3020 portable 'handheld' card reader represents the next generation of portable access control. Featuring a lightweight and rugged design, the reader has a full colour TFT touch screen to show card transaction outcomes, a large memory capacity (200,000 card records) and onboard Wi-Fi (using WPA2- AES encryption

The S3020 reader can be used with AC2000 in the same manner as a permanent wall mounted reader. The reader is ideal for ID card validation at remote sites or temporary entrances which have no power, and can also be used as a mobile device for random checks within pre-defined zones.
