Plug Fest Participants Demonstrate Interoperability

ONVIF : 15 September, 2009  (Company News)
A range of ten surveillance equipment manufacturers have gathered in Tokyo to demonstrate their products' interoperability against ONVIF core specification 1.0
Ten companies active in the Network Video surveillance market joined the first ONVIF developer's plug fest in Tokyo, Japan on September 1-3. At the event, the participants tested their product implementations of ONVIF core specification 1.0. The testing included video encoders, network cameras and video management software, verifying interoperability between the products and the software. All participants - Axis, Bosch, Canon, Hitachi, IndigoVision, Merit Lilin, Panasonic, Sony, Vivotek and Zuken - could confirm the correct implementation into their products.

"We are very pleased with the results from the plug fest as all companies successfully achieved the goal of interoperability with the other participants," says Markus Wierny, Bosch Security Systems, Member of ONVIF's Technical Services Committee and organizer of the plug fest. "This means a significant step towards ONVIF's goal of achieving global interoperability."

Participants of the plug fest also commented on their positive experiences during the event. "We are very excited to have this opportunity to cooperate with many other members of ONVIF" says Ichiro Ogawa, Business Planning at Panasonic Corporation and Member of ONVIF's Steering Committee. "By holding this plug fest continuously, we believe that we can further improve the stable interoperability among ONVIF qualified Network Video equipment."

ShengFu Cheng, RD deputy manager of Vivotek adds: "Not only did our product demonstration and tests achieve outstanding results, but we also had a great opportunity to expand our horizons. As a member of ONVIF, Vivotek will incorporate the specification into its product portfolio to provide customers with more flexible and cost-efficient options."

Interested parties can see product demonstrations of the plug fest participants at the ONVIF Public Reception during the ASIS show on September 22, 5-7 pm at the Sheraton Park Hotel, Anaheim, CA, USA.
