Pelco certification for mobile CCTV networks.

Qeeps : 18 March, 2008  (New Product)
Integration of mobile CCTV with Pelco DVR provides additional scope for recording functions to Qeeps users and installers.
Qeeps has completed extensive interoperability testing with Pelco, a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of video security systems and supporting equipment. The certification will ensure that users of the Qeeps service connecting via a range of Pelco equipment will receive the best possible video quality, frame rate and system reliability.

Following extensive trials carried out by both Qeeps UK parent company Vemotion and at Pelco's labs in California, the popular Pelco DX8000 and DX8100 Digital Video Recorders have successfully completed feature and interoperability testing.

"This agreement gives security equipment installers and end customers peace of mind that the Qeeps service will work with Pelco DX8000 and DX8100 series DVRs and any connected analogue or digital camera," says Stewart McCone, Technical Director, Vemotion Interactive Limited - parent company of Qeeps. "Thousands of Pelco customers can now be assured that they can reliably receive live viewing and alerts on their mobile device, wherever in the world they are."

Qeeps (pronounced keeps) is a hosted service allowing users to connect remotely to any compatible Digital Video Recorder (DVR) via IP to receive both real-time and recorded video footage on almost any mobile device. The service is typically used in conjunction with CCTV cameras but any connected source can be viewed using Qeeps.

For a number of years, the Qeeps technical team has been developing software interfaces for all the major DVR manufacturers to allow the service to connect remotely and stream video footage without the need for additional onsite equipment. Qeeps delivers full colour video to mobile phones or similar hand held wireless device using a specially patented version of the H.264 encoding standard for low bandwidth devices.

To use the service, customers simply purchase a Qeeps license, register with the Qeeps website and supply the IP address and port details for the DVR they wish to monitor. The user then selects a monthly subscription package and installs a small video viewer and remote control software application on to any mobile phone or handheld device that they wish to access the service with.

"Our relationship with Pelco is very important to us and we will endeavour to jointly certify its entire product range over the coming year," comments McCone, "Although we have spent a long time getting Qeeps to work with every major vendor at a technical level, joint official certification programmes are an ongoing strategic project that will help Qeeps to reach as wide an audience as possible as well as giving our channel partners confidence in the reliability and integrity of the Qeeps solution."

Earlier this year, Qeeps launched its Professional version that includes new features such as enhanced management reporting, support for multiple users on the same shared account and custom notification. The Professional version also supports remote control of pan, tilt and zoom enabled CCTV cameras.

"These new Pelco-QEEPS integrated solutions form a revolutionary new security system that brings customers peace of mind - right to the mobile phone. Now users can view their property on their cell phones - live - from anywhere in the world in high-resolution colour," says Terry Carver, Pelco API Business Development Manager. "These new integrated technology solutions allow our mutual customers the opportunity to meet a wider range of end user requirements in just about any industry."

Qeeps will be announcing further interoperability agreements with a number of major video security systems manufacturers over the next few months. Qeeps is sold directly via and through a network of independent security systems integrators via distributors Norbain, ADI-Gardiner and Videcon.
