Partnership provides surveillance as a service for home owners

Cloudview : 06 October, 2014  (Company News)
Cloud based CCTV surveillance system provides affordable security for home owners through new partnership between Cloudview and Kirby Home Security
Partnership provides surveillance as a service for home owners

Cloudview will be partnering with Kirby Home Security to provide its domestic customers with affordable IP and cloud-based technology to protect their homes.  Kirby is the first major security reseller to offer a professional, cloud-based CCTV system providing consumers with a simple and cost effective solution to record, observe, share and safely store visual data via the cloud from any device, anywhere in the world. As cloud computing becomes the backbone of today’s digital life, this partnership represents a clear, forward thinking vision for the future of security.

CCTV is increasingly being favoured by home-owners as a method for preventing crime and in cases where crime has occurred, detecting the people involved. Cloudview can be easily added or integrated into any existing CCTV system without affecting recording and monitoring arrangements, with users paying as little as £5.99 a month for the service. It is scalable from one to thousands of cameras with installation taking minutes and no up-front investment in IP infrastructure required. Images can also be stored for up to 90 days, allowing easy accessibility to data retrieval.

Research has shown that in the UK, burglars strike every 40 seconds. Families with children are likely victims and in 56% of these cases, there is someone at home at the time of the crime.  Meanwhile, businesses in the UK experience nearly 250,000 false alarms a year resulting in costs of over £1 billion. Cloudview aims to combat false alarms and provide useful information in the event of a genuine activation by providing customers with instant visual verification of alarms using Wi-Fi to connect to the cloud rather than directly back to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC).  If the wires are cut to detectors on a Cloudview monitored site the cameras will still work, delivering best-of-breed visual verification at a fraction of the price of CCTV-based alternatives. And because it’s self-contained and independent, Cloudview can be added to any existing intruder or hold-up alarm system already in place.

Commenting on the new partnership, James Wickes, CEO of Cloudview said: “Kirby Home Security’s reputation for providing first class domestic protection and the way the team is so keen to embrace the very latest in technology is an excellent fit for Cloudview.” He continued: “Technology is moving on apace and, in order to provide the ultimate protection to our property and possessions, the security industry needs to keep on top of the latest developments. At Cloudview, we not only believe we’ve built a solution that’s fit for today, but also for the future and together with the team at Kirby Home Security we’ll work towards providing the ultimate security solution to the market.”

From its founding in 1972, Kirby Home Security has grown into a multi-faceted company providing technical excellence in all areas of home and business property protection. In the course of the last 40 years, the company has gained a notable reputation for its dedication to designing and installing innovative solutions and embracing current and new technology. It understands that good security is something we all need and advances in cloud technology means there are no excuses for expensive, weak security systems anymore. This deal with Cloudview is a bold move in an industry that is struggling to tune in to the rapid pace of modern life, where more things are operated via a hand-held mobile device and digital is king.

Nick Evans, Sales Director of Kirby Home Security said “Modern technology and the rise of the smart phone has changed customers’ expectations.  Our clients are increasingly demanding remote access, resilience, reliability and ease of use but at an affordable price. He continued, the ‘Secured by Design’ accreditation completes the picture and gives our customers added confidence in the product.  We aim to assist clients in designing out crime and see our partnership with Cloudview as an essential part of our overall product and service offering.

Earlier in the month Cloudview became the first vendor to gain prestigious Police Preferred Specification status for a cloud-based video surveillance solution, an award conferred by Secured by Design, the official UK Police flagship supporting the principles of 'designing out crime’.
