Network scanner for network compliance management

Tenable Network Security : 13 March, 2008  (New Product)
Working across a range of operating systems, Nessus 3.2 offers confidential data discovery amongst other essential tools for complete compliance.
Tenable Network Security has released Nessus version 3.2 for general availability. Tenable's Nessus vulnerability scanner, is the world-leader in active scanners, featuring high speed discovery, configuration auditing, asset profiling, sensitive data discovery and vulnerability analysis of your security posture.

With the release of Tenable's Nessus 3.2, Nessus users will gain access to many new innovative features that extend its enterprise usefulness in conducting security and compliance auditing.

* Support for IPv6 security auditing.
* Improved control of network bandwidth usage during scanning.
* Granular access control rules to limit users to specific ports and audits.
* Extended Nessus Server capability to query remote Microsoft Windows systems with native support of the Windows Management Instrumentation protocol (WMI).

In addition, Tenable has various ways for individuals and organisations to manage Nessus. Tenable's Nessus Client is a unified cross-platform client that is designed to conduct single vulnerability and configuration audits of networks. For larger networks, Tenable's Security Centre provides continuous, asset-based security and compliance monitoring and reporting. Both the Nessus Client and the Security Centre also have support for a unified configuration, target and results format. This new Nessus report format makes sharing results, scan configurations and target lists easy.

"We are excited to release the next version of Nessus," said Renaud Deraison, Chief Research Officer of Tenable and author of Nessus. "Nessus 3.2 combines the functionality required by the changing network landscape with management options that make its use efficient and effective."

Tenable currently supports the following operating systems for deployment of Nessus 3.2; Windows (Microsoft), Linux (RedHat, Novell), Solaris (Sun), Mac OS X (Apple) and FreeBSD.
