Network Access Control market report recognises ForeScout as having largest deployments

ForeScout Technologies recognised in Network Access Control report for platform versatility and number of endpoints protected
Network Access Control market report recognises ForeScout as having largest deployments

Placing ForeScout Technologies alongside Cisco and Juniper as one of the top three fastest selling Network Access Control (NAC) solution providers for large enterprises and small to medium sized enterprises (SME), the latest report from Frost & Sullivan on global analysis of the NAC market distinguishes the company as offering the most versatile platform and having deployments that protect the largest number of endpoints. The report also competitively rates ForeScout the highest in terms of meeting market demand.

Possessing the fastest growing enterprise customer base in the NAC market, ForeScout has increased its enterprise market share during the last year to 24.3% with the top three suppliers (including ForeScout) possessing over 69% of the NAC market between them. In the report, which was published in December 2014, Frost & Sullivan estimates that the market will grow a further 38% over the previous year.

In determining its forecast growth rate to 2018, the report from Frost & Sullivan took account of the increasing size of NAC deployments due to the inclusion of greater numbers of devices on SME and large enterprise networks including the growing phenomenon of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). With more organizations realising the benefits of next generation NAC, the growth not only includes greenfield installations but also the increasing trend for upgrading existing 1st generation network security to next generation NAC at the time of contract renewals.

Next-generation NAC, which incorporates far greater functionality than the previous generation, is providing companies with the ability to deliver tangible business value to customers and solve some of the major challenges which exist in IT security. Part of this is the ability of NG NAC to strengthen endpoint compliance and enable BYOD programmes rather than being restricted to device authentication. Frost & Sullivan identified the following as being the main market drivers for NG NAC growth:

* Provides complete endpoint visibility
* Allows for integration with other security platforms
* Creates contextual awareness leading to more operational intelligence
* Provides endpoint visibility than can be applied to inventories and compliance reporting
* Evolved to match the way that businesses have evolved network architecture and access

“In our recent study, we found ForeScout to have the most versatile platform that exceeds market demands and offers the means to improve the efficacy of other security tools through its ControlFabric integration architecture,” said Chris Kissel, network security industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan. “ForeScout provides a highly extensible, interoperable and scalable network security solution that is especially beneficial in enterprise deployments.”

The report also affirms that bidirectional integration with other network and security platforms will continue to differentiate NAC vendors and be valued by customers. As such, NAC vendors actively seek integration with other network defences, including: advanced threat detection (ATD), antivirus (AV), virtual private networks (VPN), vulnerability management (VM), security information and event management (SIEM), mobile device management (MDM), firewalls, and Web gateways.

“ForeScout and our partners continue to realise tremendous sales growth in the large commercial enterprise, government and mid-tier market segments. We believe that our platform offers superior usability, deployment, management and ROI achievement, which are top priorities for our customers,” said Brant Kennedy, executive vice president of worldwide sales at ForeScout Technologies. “We appreciate Frost & Sullivan recognizing us as leaders in the NAC market, as NAC is a cornerstone technology that enables IT organizations to achieve continuous monitoring and mitigation.”
