L-3 Communications has announced that its Integrated Systems (L-3 IS) subsidiary has been selected as one of two preferred bidders in the Assessment Phase of Project Listener for the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence.
The Assessment Phase is a $2 million, 10-month engineering effort for risk reduction and solution definition. Main Gate for the project is scheduled for 2009.
"Project Listener aligns perfectly with our role on Astor and Helix, as well as our other US and international ISR programs," said Bob Drewes, President of L-3's Integrated Systems Group. "This is further recognition of our experience and expertise in the ISTAR (intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance) community and our partnership with the Ministry of Defence."
Project Listener integrates sensor products in order to provide actionable data against selected targets and provide interoperability between the UK, US and Coalition ISTAR assets. Listener will build on the experience of L-3's Network Centric Collaborative Targeting (NCCT) program. QinetiQ, with a workforce of 11,500 people, is a leading global defence technology and security company that creates, evaluates, tests and delivers technology-based services, solutions and products to government and commercial customers. LogicaCMG is a major international force in IT and business services. It employs around 40,000 people across 41 countries.
L-3 IS develops and integrates defense and commercial technology for US and allied customers worldwide. It is recognized internationally as a systems integration organization specializing in the modernization and maintenance of aircraft of all sizes. It is a leader in advanced technologies for signal processing, electronic countermeasures, sensor development and aircraft self-protection.
