 At the .conf2016: annual Splunk conference, ForeScout Technologies announced that it has joined the Adaptive Response Initiative of the real-time operational intelligence software provider. The multi-vendor best-of-breed security initiative uses end-to-end context and continuous response to help organisations improve security operations with an adaptive security architecture.
Unveiled as recently as the RSA Conference this year, there are nonetheless already over 20 vendors taking part in the initiative as members, including ForeScout Technologies.
As a result of this network of collaborators, the Adaptive Response framework within Splunk ES can be used by organisations to further interact with data, extract and share new insights, gather more context and invoke actions across key security and IT domains. Ultimately, this enables customers to detect threats faster, make analytics-driven decisions and improve operational efficiencies within their Security Operations Centre (SOC).
According to Rob Greer, Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of Products, ForeScout, the company is collaborating with Splunk to further implement best practices around network intelligence and automated endpoint detection and response in order to help limit breaches.
“Through the Adaptive Response Initiative, together ForeScout CounterACT and Splunk ES will equip customers with the in-depth endpoint and network intelligence necessary to help prioritise incidents and mitigate threats with orchestrated response capabilities. This partnership will help to limit data breaches by providing an opportunity for customers to make more precise and automated responses to threats such as anomalous access, compliance gaps and compromised devices,” he said.
While many organisations employ a layered, multi-vendor approach to security, most individual products are not designed to work together outside of the box. Splunk Enterprise Security, working in conjunction with technologies like CounterACT, works as the nerve centre for security and extends analytics-driven decision-making – improving detection, investigation and remediation times, information sharing and response.
