ProofPoint : 29 February, 2008  (Company News)
DLP and Email security for the European market behind recruitment of two experienced industry experts by Proofpoint.
Proofpoint has emphasised its commitment to the EMEA region with the appointment of two key industry stalwarts. Effective immediately, David Stanley is the new VP and Managing Director EMEA. He is joined by Oliver Carter in the newly-created role of Director of Channel, reporting into Stanley. Stanley and Carter bring over 25 combined years' experience in security offerings and channel development to Proofpoint. The new EMEA headquarters for Proofpoint will be in Oxfordshire with aggressive plans to open offices in other European countries within 2008.

Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, Proofpoint has won accolades from industry analysts and experts and provides email security and data loss prevention solutions for thousands of enterprise, government and university customers. The new EMEA team aims to rapidly expand Proofpoint's growth in the region by providing security and compliance for companies in need of email security and data loss prevention solutions. The first stage of the growth plans has been to appoint a Director for Southern Europe and Benelux to serve the demand for business coming out of this region.

Stanley is responsible for overall revenue growth in EMEA and will direct all of Proofpoint's operations in the region, reporting to Gary Steele, CEO. Previously Stanley was VP and MD EMEA at CipherTrust and was instrumental in its integration into Secure Computing, following the acquisition in 2006. Prior to this he worked for Sophos, where as General Manager for the UK, helped the company increase UK revenue from under $10m to over $45m.

Carter's remit is to support and grow Proofpoint's 100% channel strategy in EMEA. Previously he worked with Stanley at CipherTrust and then Secure Computing where he was responsible for integrating and managing the UK-based channel sales team which was formed after Secure Computing's acquisitions of both Cyberguard and CipherTrust. Other roles have included new business development manager and channel manager - both at Sophos.

"The appointment of David Stanley and Oliver Carter marks the beginning of a new stage in the company's growth in EMEA,' stated Gary Steele, Chief Executive Officer. 'We are delighted that David and Oliver have joined us in these key positions and we look forward to their considerable expertise in security and channel management."
