IronPort protection for SME sector

IronPort Systems : 19 June, 2008  (New Product)
Collaboration with Comstor enables IronPort to bring enterprise standard virus and spam blocking technology to smaller businesses
IronPort, now part of Cisco Systems has announced its partnership with Comstor UK, a leading speciality distributor in networking, security, mobility and convergence, to bring the IronPort Spam and Virus Blocker to the SMB sector. Additionally, IronPort will participate in Comstor's award-winning OneDefense solutions programme.

The IronPort Spam and Virus Blocker is a special edition of the award-winning IronPort C-Series line of email security appliances. It is built on the same anti-spam and anti-virus technology that powers and protects the most demanding networks at the largest corporations, ISPs, and government agencies in the world.

'Comstor is a best-in-class security distributor and we plan to leverage its programme infrastructure as well as its operational expertise in business practices such as training and logistics,' comments James Lee, SMB Channel Manager, Northern Europe. 'IronPort wants to introduce our solutions businesses of all sizes so we've selected Comstor to help us penetrate the SMB space. Comstor's business model and two-tier approach match our vision and its strong professional services arm ensures the very best, fully accredited support for all customers.'

The IronPort Blocker scans email traffic coming into organisations and prevents spam and viruses from ever reaching employees' inboxes. The IronPort Blocker is the only SMB security appliance that includes real-time updates sent directly and automatically to the appliance from trained security specialists at the IronPort Threat Operations Centre. This 24x7 proactive threat tracking is combined with the world's most advanced anti-spam and anti-virus computer algorithms for maximum security protection.

'Our agreement with IronPort increases our strength in serving the security requirements of SMB customers,' adds Jon Pritchard, Vice President and Managing Director of Comstor Europe. 'Businesses of all sizes can now benefit from the strength of enterprise-class solutions such as IronPort's Blocker which delivers big performance advantages at SMB pricing levels.'

The IronPort Blocker relies on the industry leading IronPort SenderBase Network - the world's first, biggest and best traffic monitoring network. SenderBase measures more than 25 percent of the world's messaging traffic - receiving over five billion queries per day. SenderBase is unique in that it even collects data from the networks of organisations that are not IronPort customers.

IronPort shares data with other large ISPs in a data peering relationship. Currently, over 100,000 organisations participate in IronPort's SenderBase Network, making it the industry's most accurate reputation system.
