First Security Institute autumn dance a success.

The Security Institute : 03 December, 2007  (Company News)
The Security Institute recently held its first autumn knees-up for members and sponsors with 100 happy guests and no speeches!
Determined to provide even more member benefits, and building on the success of their Annual Lunch on the River Thames earlier this year, the Security Institute held their inaugural Autumn Ball at the luxurious Carden Park Hotel nr Chester on Saturday 24th November.

Organised by Council member Patricia Knight MSyI of Receptors Security Systems, the event attracted just fewer than 100 party-goers from as far afield as London and the home counties! Everyone was able to make good use of the leisure facilities at the hotel, including the 2 championship golf courses, beauty treatments, or shopping in Chester, with many of the guests opting for an additional night to make more of a weekend of it.

It was great to see David Dickinson of BSIA and David Greer of Skills for Security supporting the Security Institute, as well as corporate bookings from Mitie Security, Receptors, Mobotix and Arup Security Consulting.

No one knew quite what to expect, apart from being guaranteed a great-value party night in a luxurious setting. They were not disappointed. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous four-course gala dinner with wines, and were entertained during the meal with a live operatic performance including Nessun Dorma. No sooner had the meal finished, than Chairman Bill Wyllie and his wife Annette took to the floor, dancing to the Lemon Tree Band from Manchester. They must have danced alone for almost 10 seconds, before other couples joined in - party on!

The band kept the dance floor full until the early hours, and you could easily recognise those that had been at the SyI event by the range of dark glasses, streamers, hats, and even umbrellas that were in evidence the following morning. Either that, or by those carrying raffle prizes such as a patio heater, trike, electric scooter, Ski exercise machine, wines, whiskey or perfume.

The Security Institute would like to thank C2i, Receptors, Martins Lane Dental Practice, Wilson James, Derek Webster, Di Thomas and Geoff Whitfield for their sponsorship.

No speeches, no awards or presentations, just a great evening of fun and friendship - eating, drinking and dancing.
