 IoT security company, ForeScout Technologies has hired the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of McKesson Corporation, James Beer, to its board of directors. Before joining the largest US healthcare services and IT company, Beer had top financial positions at Symantec, AMR and American Airlines.
Commenting on Beer's appointment, ForeScout's President and CEO, Michael DeCesare said that his in-depth global business and financial experience gained over three decades working in highly regulated industries would add invaluable perspective to the Board of Directors, a group comprised of carefully selected and highly successful executives. “James’ counsel will help us accelerate the growth of the business and to continue protecting our customers against advanced threats,” he went on to say.
According to Beer, the proliferation of traditional and Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the enterprise has created an attractive opportunity for ForeScout to shape the market. "The company is well positioned to emerge as an industry leader in cybersecurity and I'm looking forward to contributing to its success and applying my financial counsel and experience by serving on its Board,” he said.
With this appointment, the ForeScout Board of Directors now consists of Hezy Yeshurun, ForeScout Chairman and Co-founder; David Dewalt, ForeScout Vice-Chairman and former CEO of FireEye and McAfee; Michael DeCesare, ForeScout President and CEO; Richard Anton, Partner at Amadeus Capital Partners; T Kent Elliot, former President and CEO of Vienna Systems; Theresia Gouw, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Aspect Ventures; Mark Jensen, Former Managing Partner of Venture Capital Services at Deloitte; Rami Kalish, Managing General Partner and co-founder of Pitango; Enrique Salem, Managing Director of Bain Capital Ventures and former CEO of Symantec and James Beer, Executive Vice President and CFO of McKesson Corporation.
Beer currently sits on the Board of Celesio, a European pharmaceutical distributor and retailer and is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Economic Advisory Council. He holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from Imperial College, London University and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
