Filter available for screening personal alarms

Dycon Security : 21 November, 2008  (New Product)
Screen out false alarms on personal attack systems using Dycon's D5000 AVU filter
Confirmation of intruder alarm activations is now a requirement under the ACPO 2000 Security Systems Policy (SSP) which focuses on filtering out false alarms. Audio verification (listening in) is one of the 3 methods approved by ACPO to confirm alarm activations.

From April 2008, an updated version of ACPO's SSP now includes personal attack alarm activation. This also means that Personal Attack systems which have lost police response (following 2 false activations in a 12-month period, most police forces withdraw police response), have to be upgraded to include alarm confirmation before re-instatement can be envisaged.

The Dycon D5000 AVU works perfectly with systems with PA buttons, and will act as the link between your staff and the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), through a combination of microphones and speakers. The D5000 allows the ARC operator to analyse quickly the source and cause of the alarm, reducing false alarms and increasing reliability.

In the event of an intrusion or violence towards your staff, the panic button transmits the initial alarm to the ARC. When receiving the transmission, the ARC operator can dial back into your premises and listen in to live audio. A miniature microphone transmits suspicious sounds (breaking glass or shouting/threats for example), which enables the operator to confirm that the alarm activation is genuine (audible signs of a break-in or robbery). The police can then be called to respond to the alarm urgently.

Microphones are housed in a small plastic case that can be surface or corner mounted and each has a two-wire connection designed to operate over long lengths of standard alarm cable without suffering from interference.

Dycon's 5000 Series comprises a small, low-current control unit which can be housed in the same enclosure as the alarm control panel and is easily connected to the majority of alarm detectors, including personal attack devices.

There is no need to change your current alarm system or to re-train your staff in new, complicated emergency procedures! They just press the PA button when a genuine incident is occurring - the 5000 Series AVU and the ARC will do the rest. The Dycon 5000 Series is the most efficient, low cost answer to DD243 & ACPO compliance available.
