Gemalto : 21 September, 2015  (Application Story)
Turkish passport issuing authority is taking the latest Sealys eCover for use in the ePassports used by the citizens of the country
Electronic covers for ePassports in Turkey

Gemalto is supplying its Sealys eCover for ePassports to Darphane, the Turkish Mint and Stamp Printing House. Gemalto is already the provider for the Turkish personalisation programme, having deployed the Coesys Issuance system for the country's national authorities.

With this new contract, Gemalto now provides these Turkish authorities with a complete end-to-end passport service, offering a one-stop implementation plan. For Turkey's 75 million citizens, electronic passports are issued for new applications as well as renewals. Currently, more than two million ePassports are issued each year.

According to the multi-year agreement, Gemalto is providing its ICAO Common Criteria certified software, embedded in the highly-durable passport inlay with secure microprocessor. Gemalto's Sealys eTravel product embeds the latest ICAO compliant operating system and guarantees seamless integration into Darphane's ePassport processes.

"The Turkish ePassport new secure embedded software is key to delivering the best traveller's experience to citizens," said Tommi Nordberg, Senior Vice President of Government Programmes for Europe, Central Asia and Turkey at Gemalto. "We will continue to further develop what we offer for the Turkish government agencies with the best in product and services."
