Digital Rights Management Discussion at Connections 2010

Arxan Technologies : 09 June, 2010  (Company News)
CTO at Arxan joins panel at Connections 2010 to debate digital rights management, conditional access and payment models
Kevin Morgan, chief technology officer and vice president of engineering, Arxan Technologies will speak on a panel entitled "DRM, Conditional Access, and Payment Models," which focuses on the evolution of content protection and digital rights management (DRM), and specifically on the challenges of moving content across devices, the role of standards, and the ways DRM and Conditional Access systems can monetize content in new ways. The session will be moderated by Harry Wang, Director, Health & Mobile Product Research, Parks Associates.

Morgan will address the underlying security of digital asset distribution models such as DRM and other applications in order to protect premium content as it is distributed through today's varied entertainment ecosystems. Whether it is movies, music, games or television shows, consumers demand entertainment and information anytime and anywhere. This has led to the development of increasingly innovative and diverse distribution channels, such as smartphones, IPTV, and other methods to move content in today's three-screen world. These "Hollywood 2.0" models, however, face growing challenges in protecting digital assets against hackers whose aim is to subvert the studios' business models and intellectual property (IP).

Arxan's application hardening and key protection solutions protect against tampering and reverse-engineering of code and IP in a durable and proven manner which does not impact source code, application functioning or the development process. The company's technology supports DRM standards and robustness rules for content protection, and safeguards revenue channels from piracy and unauthorized access across desktop, server and embedded applications, including those designed for mobile devices such as the Android.

Arxan customers span the digital media ecosystem, from leading game developers to digital media application providers, including Widevine, a provider of digital entertainment solutions, which uses Arxan's application hardening technology to protect its DRM platform.
