Cyber threat visibility management system

Check Point : 24 April, 2014  (New Product)
Check Point releases new security management and monitoring appliances for improved threat visibility in big data environments
Cyber threat visibility management system

Check Point has announced the availability of Next-Generation SmartEvent, a new, powerful event monitoring solution for real-time processing and storing of threat detection data.  Next-Generation SmartEvent offers one single view for all security threats and network components, to more easily manage and analyse big data security, helping to support faster and more informed security decisions.

At the same time, Check Point has upgraded its entire line of Smart-1 security management appliances.  These five appliances support policy management, log and threat analysis, as well as central management of Check Point security gateways.  Together with Next-Generation SmartEvent, the Smart-1 Appliance family offers consolidated security management and monitoring.

The new Smart-1 Appliances allow for 3x greater storage capacity, enabling years of forensic investigation.  They can also store up to 100GB of logs per day and can index up to 44,000 logs per second.  Report generation is accelerated through Smart-1 hardware optimisation.  A Threat Prevention view based on weekly log data can now be generated in ten seconds or less.

Security incident and event management continues to grow in complexity.  With the growth in mobile devices, endpoints, and gateways in organisations' networks, the ever-increasing volume of data and growing security incidents results in more events needing to be processed and continuous monitoring requirements.  Next-Generation Smart Event and the updated Smart-1 appliances provide the management power to process data and index large log files in seconds.

"To stay one step ahead of security threats, organisations need powerful event monitoring solutions that are simple to use, provide robust security analytics to rapidly identify and investigate threats, and enable policy modifications based on these threats," said Dorit Dor, vice president of products at Check Point Software Technologies. "Next-Generation Smart Event provides simple yet powerful and comprehensive event monitoring capabilities including highly-customisable views, ultra-fast search and reporting of results for events and real threats that reside in the data."

Key features of Next-Generation SmartEvent include:

Effective threat analysis and customised visibility:  Using customisable views to display only information relevant to your organisation, security administrators can easily understand security status and trends at a glance.  Administrators can quickly investigate security incidents and correlate multiple logs in order to identify suspicious activity. Organisations can also create rich and personalised reports for stakeholders in security decision making, including security professionals, network engineers and C-level management.

Big Data threat detection in seconds:  Next-Generation SmartEvent analyses and searches logs with unprecedented speed and scale. Billions of logs can be analysed per day, and over a hundred million logs can be searched in a matter of seconds. This speed and scale facilitates forensic investigation and regulatory compliance with easy access to terabytes of historical logs.

"Everywhere Monitoring" for all security threats: Next-Generation SmartEvent brings real-time event visibility across multiple security systems including: Firewall, IPS, Anti-Virus, Anti-Bot, Threat Emulation, URL Filtering and Application Control. The SmartEvent web portal allows administrators to be on top of their security posture and monitor all security threats, anywhere and anytime, using mobile phones and tablet devices.

The five new Smart-1 security management appliances are the Smart-1 3150, the Smart-1 3050, the Smart-1 225, the Smart-1 210 and the Smart-1 205. Key features of this appliance family include unified security, event and log management and real-time compliance monitoring across Check Point's software blades;  multi-domain management;  optimised event management and threat analysis;  and redundant operation for business-critical networks.

Next-Generation SmartEvent will be available on Check Point's new Smart-1 Appliances from the company’s partners worldwide.
