CPD committee defined at ASIS

ASIS Europe UK : 27 November, 2007  (Technical Article)
United Kingdom branch of ASIS defines its committee to support Professional Development in the security industry.
ASIS United Kingdom Chapter 208 has announced its Professional Development Committee (PDC) to serve for the next two years.

The role of the PDC will be to liaise with relevant internal (ASIS International) and external parties in order to provide leadership to the Chapter 208 Committee on continuing professional development and education.

The chairman of the PDC is David Cresswell who will report directly to the Chapter 208 Chairman, Derek Webster.

David will be supported by a committee created at a meeting on the 8th June 2007. The following posts/responsibilities have been assigned: -

* Alan Farley Deputy Chairman.
* Dan Hooton Secretary - Armed Forces Liaison (ex-Military).
* Barry Walker CPP Review Programme Leader - Professional Certification Board (PCB) Liaison Member.
* Mikael Persson Academic Liaison Member.
* John Scott Item Development Group (IDG) Leader.
* Mike Tennent Workshop Development / Accreditation.
* Jacqueline Walker Recertification.
* Simon Whitehouse Publicity.
* Tim Hodges Committee Member.
* Donna Alexander Committee Member.

The primary responsibilities of the PDC are defined as follows:.

* To function on behalf of the Chapter Committee to identify, develop and promote relevant educational and professional development opportunities and activities.

* To promote to the membership and the broader UK professional security constituency the benefits of ASIS certification programmes.

* To provide leadership in all aspects relating to the delivery of professional certification programmes to Chapter members.

* To provide input to the Seminars Committee on seminar themes and speakers.

* To liaise on matters of certification, professional development and education with relevant external bodies, such as educational providers, sector accreditation bodies, sector standards and regulatory bodies etc.

* To liaise on matters of certification, professional development and education with relevant ASIS International bodies, including the Professional Certification Board, the Educational Sub-Committee of the European Advisory Council and other European chapters.

* To provide support to the Items Development Group (IDG) which develops questions for the CPP examination for UK legal aspects.

* To provide assistance to certified members on the recertification process.
