Corporate communications appointment at L-3 Communications.

New VP of corporate communications to lead the marketing, media and investment communication thrust at L-3.
L-3 Communications has appointed Karen Tripp as Vice President of Corporate Communications, effective immediately. In this position, Ms Tripp will integrate L-3's diverse communications functions, including internal and external communications, marketing communications, advertising and media and investor communications, as well as a variety of other initiatives. Ms Tripp will report to Michael Strianese, President and Chief Executive Officer of L-3.

Ms Tripp has over 20 years of experience across a broad array of global corporate and industrial communications disciplines, as well as significant experience in the aerospace and defense sectors. Most recently, Ms Tripp served as General Manager of Global Communications for General Electric's $16 billion Aviation unit, a position she held since 2002. Prior to joining GE, Ms Tripp was Vice President of Corporate Communications for Rockwell Collins, a position she held from 1997 to 2002.

"Karen Tripp has proven experience leading highly credible and successful integrated communications organizations in our industry," said Mr Strianese. "She is a tremendous addition to our senior management team and I am looking forward to her contributions as we continue to advance the L-3 brand in the marketplace."

Ms Tripp holds a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration degree from the University of North Dakota. She is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and a certified flight instructor.

Headquartered in New York City, L-3 Communications employs over 63,000 people worldwide and is a prime system contractor in aircraft modernization and maintenance, C3ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) systems and government services. L-3 is also a leading provider of high technology products, systems and subsystems. The company reported 2006 sales of $12.5 billion.
