Core Security Technologies names new leader

Core Security Technologies : 10 March, 2008  (Company News)
Mark Hatton has joined Core Security Technologies as its president, chief executive officer and member of its board of directors.
“Core Security’s board was determined to find a new CEO who had direct market experience and demonstrated success managing and leading high-growth businesses,” said Peter Chung, managing member with Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and member of Core Security’s board of directors. “After an extensive search, Mark Hatton stood out as an ideal fit to build upon Core’s market leadership and to take the organization to the next level. His accomplishments at Sophos parallel the growth path that we envision for Core Security in the coming years.”

In Hatton’s six years with Sophos, he was instrumental in growing the North American business and transforming the company into the one of the fastest growing and largest independent security vendors in the industry. During Hatton’s tenure, he helped take the company from being recognized as a point solution vendor to a leading provider of enterprise security and control solutions. Illustrative of Hatton’s success was when Sophos was added to Gartner’s acclaimed ‘Leader’ in the Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms 2007 report.

“Core Security is already a market leader in the security assurance marketplace and is poised for considerable growth as we continue to demonstrate substantial value to customers worldwide,” said Mark Hatton, president and chief executive officer, Core Security Technologies. “I am excited to be joining the company at this important juncture and hope my experience will help take this already successful organization to the next level.”

Before serving as president of Sophos North America, Hatton held the position of vice president and general manager for US operations. Previously he was vice president of worldwide sales for Tilion,. Prior to Tilion, Hatton held the post of vice president of North American field operations for EC Cubed.

Hatton holds an MBA from Boston University, Massachusetts and a BA Communication from Westfield State College, Massachusetts. In 2006, Mark was inducted as a member into the prestigious Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), which includes more than 10,000 young global leaders in 80 nations.
