Comprehensive security suite for networks

McAfee : 22 April, 2008  (New Product)
McAfee releases network protection suite with content security and threat management functions already built in.
McAfee has announced McAfee Total Protection for Network, a new suite designed to end the "appliance and product fatigue" associated with deploying, maintaining and managing multiple solutions. McAfee Total Protection for Network includes the McAfee M-8000 Network Security Platform, formerly known as IntruShield and the McAfee Content Security Blade Server, announced separately today. This announcement further demonstrates McAfee's commitment to be the leader in network security offerings.

"As enterprises deploy advanced network features and capabilities, security challenges are expanded by a complex threat environment that requires additional security solutions. However, administering multiple security solutions has become unmanageable," said Charles Kolodgy, IDC research director for Secure Content and Threat Management. "Companies looking to simplify network security without compromising network or security performance should consider suite solutions that are integrated and centrally managed. IDC believes that IT professionals value best of suite security solutions because of ease of use, manageability, and performance."

With each new security threat, new appliances emerge to help companies combat the threats. As a result, organisations have found themselves in the position of managing multiple point appliances, which decreases efficiency and increases cost of ownership. McAfee has released Total Protection for Network to help organisations consolidate all their network security needs in one comprehensive suite to conduct business more quickly and efficiently.

"Our customers tell us they are frustrated with managing so many point products, while the costs of doing so continues to mount," said Christopher Bolin, chief technology officer for McAfee. "With McAfee Total Protection for Network, we are introducing a single solution that protects the data-- and everything else that transits over a company's network—ending appliance fatigue. By reducing the number of appliances in their environments, organisations save money and contribute to more environmentally friendly computing practices."

McAfee Total Protection for Network delivers a simple solution to protect and control a company's enterprise network. The solution provides end-to-end network protection to protect the entire network infrastructure. McAfee Total Protection for Network blocks attacks, stops spam and Web threats, cleans e-mail, protects un-patched systems and offers a powerful solution to help meet regulatory compliance, including PCI.

Total Protection for Network offers unrivalled features and functionality including a series of industry firsts. McAfee Network Security Platforms provide carrier-class reliability and scalability that large enterprises demand. Blade servers greatly extend customers' ability to scan high volumes of messages - from 700,000 to five million per hour, simply by adding more blades.

McAfee Total Protection for Network delivers increased efficiency and cost savings by replacing endless point-product appliances including IPS/IDS, Anti-Spam/anti-phishing protection, Web threat protection, e-mail/malware/spyware protection, DoS/DDoS protection, URL filtering, rate limiting, network behavioural detection and instant messaging protection and control.
