CBRN respiratory equipment for the Asian market

Avon Protection : 17 March, 2008  (New Product)
Easy to use EH20 Emergency Hood from Avon Protection aids ability to escape from contaminated areas.
Avon Protection Systems, part of Avon Rubber, is introducing a range of its cutting edge respiratory equipment to the Asian defence market at Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2008.

On show will be the exciting new ST53 multi-role modular Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) system. This adaptable solution gives the user the unique ability to switch between negative pressure and SCBA. This enables the operator to enter a hot-zone using SCBA (positive pressure) and switch to filter mode (negative pressure) allowing extended protection once the atmosphere has become less toxic. Transition is simple and efficient and does not compromise protection. The ST53 system is available with a wide variety of accessories including a light and compact air cylinder that can be efficiently carried on the waist.

Visitors to the Avon Protection stand will also be able to see the EH20 Emergency Hood, which is specifically designed to protect users against CBRN agents. It provides a high level of respiratory, eye and face protection for up to 20 minutes to allow sufficient time to escape from a contaminated area. Use of the hood requires minimal training and it takes just 30 seconds to deploy. It is stored in a neat vacuum sealed pouch small enough to wear on a belt, and has a ten year shelf-life.

Both the EH20 and the ST53 multi-role RPE system have been developed to fulfil an increasing demand from first responders for CBRN protection equipment.

Jim Naylor, sales and marketing manager for Avon Protection Systems, explains: "We have been developing respiratory solutions in partnership with the military and law enforcement agencies for many years and have built up a tremendous expert knowledge of both products and the environments in which they will be used. DSA will allow us the opportunity to showcase these important product ranges and foster key relationships within the developing Asian defence sector."
