BYOD and IoT at heart of ForeScout growth

ForeScout Technologies : 30 October, 2015  (Company News)
Changes in the way networks are used plus recent high profile data breaches are driving high levels of growth at ForeScout Technologies
BYOD and IoT at heart of ForeScout growth

Increasing requirements for continuous enterprise-level monitoring and mitigation have resulted in rapid growth for ForeScout Technologies, a growth recognised by Silicon Review, which named ForeScout as one of the 20 Fastest Growing Security Companies.

Such growth can be attributed to a number of factors defining future trends in network usage as well as recent high profile data breaches that have reached the headlines.

Technology related changes in the way networks are used are a primary factor in the growth being seen at ForeScout. Such changes include a growth in the BYOD phenomenon and an escalation of connected devices in the Internet of Things (IoT).

With more employees using their own equipment in the workplace and organisations increasingly sanctioning BYOD policies, ForeScout has seen a dramatic rise in the demand to dynamically identify and assess not only network users but also the endpoints and applications accessed across the organisation.

Additionally, with some predictions forecasting as many as 26 billion units connected on the IoT by the end of the decade, there is an increasing need to protect IP-connected security cameras, DVRs and other equipment through the provision of more visibility to endpoints in the network through agentless visibility.

Commenting on the rapid growth seen by the company, Pedro Abreu, chief strategy officer said: “As the threat landscape continues to grow, we understand that our clients must have a single point of view of their entire connected environment. Our company has seen phenomenal growth in the last year because of our unique ability to see both managed and unmanaged devices, control access and orchestrate with other products to rapidly share information and remediate security threats. As we move forward, we will continue to grow and innovate to help our customers keep their digital assets secure.”

According to ForeScout's CEO, Michael DeCesare, “Our growth is driven by three important trends: the increasing prevalence of personally owned computing devices in the workplace, the ‘Internet of Things’ phenomenon and the nearly continuous string of high-profile data breaches that are occurring around the world.”

Unless mitigated, such breaches are likely to continue accelerating with IDC forecasting that 90% of all IT networks will have an IoT-based security breach within the next two years. While there is no shortage of ongoing attacks in the enterprise today, ForeScout has developed a cybersecurity solution that continuously monitors and mitigates attacks through agentless visibility. Its ForeScout CounterACT appliance provides identification, operational intelligence and policy-based mitigation of security issues even in the most complex enterprise networks.

In order to meet the ongoing demand for its products, ForeScout Technologies will increase its footprint to 600 employees within the next 18 months – a 200% increase over current staff figures and a boon to the Silicon Valley job market.
