Butler Group endorsement of Tru-View web filtering technology.

Bloxx : 22 April, 2008  (Company News)
Contextual web filtering with multi-layered protection as offered by Bloxx Tru-View Technology recognised by the Butler Group as beneficial to web filtering.
Bloxx has announced the results of an independent technology audit from respected analyst firm Butler Group. In the audit, Butler Group highlights a number of the product's key strengths, such as its 'live' web contextual analysis engine which solves the problem of keeping URL databases up to date, the support for granular role-based access policies and its best of breed reporting capabilities.

With offices throughout the globe, Butler Group is the IT End User division of Datamonitor Plc and is a leading provider of Information Technology research, analysis, and advice. Founded in 1990, Butler Group is respected throughout the business world for the impartiality and incisiveness of its research and opinion.

Bloxx is a provider of third-generation Web Filtering solutions. Its appliance-based Tru-View Technology (TVT) solution is tasked with reducing the risks to business and its users from inappropriate Internet use and as a result helping to enhance employee productivity.
Functionally, the company's patent-pending approach to filtering out risky activities utilises all of the conventional components of first and second-generation Web Filtering and then significantly begins its real work by adding layers of analytical intelligence that takes content identification up to a new level.

TVT performs real-time contextual analysis of each requested Web-page and classifies access requests into pre-defined categories. The solution then makes a rules-based decision on whether to grant or deny access to the requested Web page. In addition to granting controlled access to Web pages, the solution is also able to restrict file and information download capabilities and control the use of Instant Messaging (IM) and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) software.

'The fact is that the use of URL filtering, keyword scanning, and white and black listing used alone or collectively is no longer effective enough to protect organisations and their users,' explains Butler Group Senior Research Analyst, Andy Kellett.

'In Butler Group's opinion, the multi-layered protection and contextual analysis approach to Web filtering used by Bloxx in its TVT solution provides a highly-competitive, leading-edge solution in a marketplace that is often driven by vendors whose Web filtering solutions still rely more heavily on the frantic need to keep large URL databases up-to-date.'

'We believe that the Bloxx TVT offering is well placed to continue to serve its core customer base and is now in a good position to deliver its services into the larger enterprise marketplace as well. Overall, an impressive solution that is well-aligned to deal with the dynamic nature of the Internet and current Web usage trends,' adds Kellett.

'We are very proud that the highly respected Butler Group should produce such a positive technology audit on our Tru-View Technology,' explains Bloxx Managing Director, Eamonn Doyle. 'The Butler Group has seen what our burgeoning list of customers has; that we provide a real world solution to reducing the risks to organisations and their users from inappropriate Internet use and as a result help to dramatically enhance employee productivity.'
