The discovery centre at Leeds Museum is protecting its valuable stock with the help of a proxSafe maxx32 key cabinet from Deister Electronics |

Leeds Museum Discovery Centre houses over one million artefacts which are not currently on permanent display at Leeds City Councils Museums and Galleries sites.
A proxSafe maxx32 key cabinet is used to manage keys for service areas, loading bay, offices, tutorial and meeting rooms. Access control to site services is absolutely critical because all storage areas are temperature controlled, varying between 14 to -30 degrees centigrade. Rapid degradation of many of the treasures would ensue if a strict access control regime were not in place.
As the Discovery Centre is open to visitors, it was important that the key cabinet met the criteria of being pleasing on the eye, as well as hiding the valuable keys. The proxSafe maxx32 is the only cabinet on the market which offers aesthetics and security with its unique automatic sliding steel door.
The standard proxSafe Terminal controller attached to the proxSafe maxx32 key cabinet reads many ID card technologies as well as having the option for PIN code access via the keypad. Such functionality provides the flexibility to have Card only, PIN only or Card and PIN entry to the proxSafe.
Site Development Officer, Gemma Pollard is extremely pleased with the reliability, ease of use and aesthetics of the proxSafe maxx32, and, based on its success, more proxSafe key cabinets have been installed at other Leeds City Council Museums and Galleries.
