Advisory board strengthened at education and certification body

ISC Squared : 07 September, 2007  (Company News)
ISC squared hires key members to advisory board in mission to enhance security workforce professionalism
ISC squared has appointed five additional senior information security professionals to its European Advisory Board ( EAB). Representing Germany, Finland and Switzerland the new members bring a broad perspective on the development of the information security workforce throughout Europe from both the public and private sectors.

The EAB is one of four regional advisory boards supporting the work ISC Squared conducts globally to enhance the professionalism and competency of the information security workforce. Comprised of senior level security professionals from a variety of organisations who volunteer their time and insights, the board sets out to advise ISC Squared on the breadth of its professional development program, including the integrity of ISC Squared credential offerings and education program, and career advancement resources, including continuing professional education, volunteer opportunities, advocacy and the ISC Squared research program.

'Our advisory boards play a critical role in the direction of ISC Squared and consequently contribute to the advancement of the profession as a whole,' says Ed Zeitler, CISSP, executive director for ISC Squared.

Since its inaugural meeting in March 2004, the EAB has guided ISC Squared to make significant progress across European markets developing: the recognition of value in employing vendor-neutral certifications to assure information security staff competency and establishing globally recognised standards of practice; the awareness and appreciation of the varied career opportunities available in information security; and the general awareness among employers and executives of information security professionals as a vital resource for their companies.
