South Wales Shredding Acquired By Shred-It

Shred-It UK : 02 September, 2010  (Company News)
Secure data destruction company expands with the acquisition of South Wales Shredding based in Cardiff
Shred-it announces its acquisition of South Wales Shredding based in Cardiff.

South Wales Shredding provides secure on site and off site collection and disposal of confidential waste and serves the whole of the South Wales and South West of England region. The company's core service is very similar to that delivered by Shred-it which makes this a fitting development.

The new acquisition which operates from the Garth Estate, Taffs Well in Cardiff, brings the number of Shred-it locations in Wales to two; totalling seventeen in the UK.

The move follows the opening of Shred-it's first branch in Wales in Bridgend in January 2010, responding to a strong demand from Welsh businesses for secure document destruction services. Over the last year, Shred-it's customer base across the South Wales region has grown by over 70%.

The new acquisition is anticipated to provide additional resources to expand the business further. There will be no job losses as a result of the acquisition.

Robert Guice, Executive Vice President, EMEA of Shred it comments: "We are very pleased to have made this key acquisition in Cardiff. It will allow us to enhance the services we can provide to our existing customers based in and around the Capital. It will give us immediate and additional resource to expand beyond our location in Bridgend and take on more customers in South Wales. We are committed to continuity of service for all our customers and look forward to working with our new customers to meet their document destruction needs.

Peter Driscoll, Director of South Wales Shredding noted: "We are very pleased to be joining forces with Shred-it as a fast expanding provider of document destruction in Wales and the UK's market leader. We believe that our customers will benefit from the expertise and enhanced services Shred-it will provide. We are looking forward to being part of such a successful company."

Robert Guice, EVP EMEA of Shred-it comments: "There are substantial positive synergies between the two firms in terms of business culture, ethics and our working practices - elements which will help to cement this new development. We see a number of strong opportunities across the South of Wales; a regional hub for some of the strongest firms in the region who we can no doubt help to support. This move is a firm commitment from Shred-it to the South of Wales both to local businesses and to the people.

Ieuan Wyn Jones, Minister for the Economy and Transport says: "We welcome Shred-it's move to expand its footprint in the region; something which will no doubt serve to benefit businesses here and of course, help grow the local economy."
