Zen Software to distribute BackupAssist

Zen Software : 25 August, 2009  (New Product)
Easy to use and powerful back up application from Cortex IT to be distributed and supported by Zen Software
Value Added Distributor Zen Software has teamed up with Australian based developer Cortex IT Labs to begin distribution and support of BackupAssist, a powerful, easy to use backup application aimed at small businesses.

Zen Software claim BackupAssist addresses the shortcomings of its better known competitors by offering much of the same functionality but by being easier to use and more competitively priced. From simple daily backups through to resilient off-site disaster recovery, BackupAssist combines a comprehensive feature set with an aggressive pricing strategy to offer small business customers what they claim is a truly viable alternative to the market leaders.

Designed to 'just work' straight out of the box, users can quickly and easily create custom backup schedules to include everything from files, folders and Exchange mailboxes, through to complete dedicated or virtual servers. File or full server image backups can be pushed to most common storage hardware, including external hard drives, tape drives, CD, DVD, Blu-ray, NAS devices and hosted space via FTP.

In addition, some clever bitwise file replication technologies such as Rsync mean even those customers with low bandwidth connections can benefit from the peace of mind off-site storage brings, as the software sends file change information at bit level across even weak broadband connections.

James Steel, Product Manager at Zen Software, the UK & Ireland distributor for Cortex products, says: 'BackupAssist is a great fit for customer base and a welcome addition to our portfolio of software for small businesses. BackupAssist satisfies the full spectrum of backup requirements a small business is likely to have and at a fraction of the price of the current market leaders. Features like Rsync are also proving attractive by making off-site solutions possible for customers with low bandwidth connections and as the product is also so simple to use, we're optimistic it will be a big hit with new and existing customers alike'.

BackupAssist backup software starts at £139 and is suitable for both small and medium sized businesses. The product set consists of the main BackupAssist application and plug-ins for Rysnc, Exchange, SQL and open files on Windows 2000. Sales, technical and marketing support are provided by distributor Zen Software.
