X-Ray screening for middle Eastern VIP security

American Science And Engineering : 31 July, 2008  (Application Story)
A number of Z Backscatter Vans for mobile X-Ray screening capability to be supplied to a client in the middle East for VIP security
American Science and Engineering has announced the receipt of a $2.6 million order from a Middle East client for multiple Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV). Configured for harsh environments, the ZBVs will be deployed by a government agency for VIP security.

"This is the third order from this country in the Middle East — a clear indication of the ZBV's value," said Anthony Fabiano, President and CEO of AS&E. "The ZBV has proven its effectiveness for securing their high-risk facilities and seaports, and will now be utilised for VIP security. With its flexibility and mobility to operate in the broadest range of environments and applications, the ZBV offers an attractive value proposition for this key client."

A breakthrough in X-ray detection technology, AS&E's Z Backscatter Van is the Number One selling non-intrusive mobile inspection system on the market. ZBV is a low-cost, highly mobile screening system built into a commercially available delivery van. The ZBV allows for immediate deployment in response to security threats, and its high throughput capability facilitates rapid inspections. The system's unique "drive-by" capability allows one or two operators to conduct X-ray imaging while the ZBV drives past suspect vehicles and objects. For personnel safety in dangerous environments, a remote console is available for operating the system in stationary mode from a distance of up to 500 meters.
