Wireless Access Control System With Encrypted Radio Frequency Communications

Abloy Security : 09 July, 2010  (New Product)
The Smartair Wireless access control system from Abloy UK enables access planning and monitoring across the enterprise with full audit trail and management capabilities
Wireless Access Control System With Encrypted Radio Frequency Communications
Abloy UK has launched a new wireless version of its popular Smartair access control system, offering the potential for real time audit trails, remote door opening and automatic updates of access privileges.

Smartair Wireless is a revolutionary new platform that combines standalone wireless locks, TCP/IP connection hubs and highly intuitive management software.

The system is powered with wireless bi-directional technology that uses encrypted radio frequency communications to transfer information to and from the electronic wireless door locks to the computer.

This allows for real time monitoring of users' movements, giving a full event trail of who has entered the building and when.

The access plan and timetable controls of the systems' users can also be changed to avoid any unnecessary accesses, plus any lost or stolen credentials can be automatically disabled or deleted

Smartair Wireless also allows doors to be unlocked with a simple click on the software and if communications are lost, then locks will remain 100% operative and events will be stored and sent to the database, once the connection has been restored.

Each hub can communicate wirelessly with up to 30 locks from a 30-metre distance and any number of hubs can be used, as required. The system is easy to install, as no wiring or pre-installation is required for doors, frames or walls.

It is also economically efficient as fewer elements are required per door than in a traditional access control system.

Says Tiffany Cook, Marketing Manager at Abloy UK: "Smartair Wireless provides the market with an advanced access solution that benefits both building managers and end-users.

"Maintenance staff don't have to walk door by door to update the access plans or collect the audit trial, whilst users are no longer forced to use an online updating point to reprogram their accesses, collect their credentials or extend their validity periods.

"Smartair Wireless offers convenience and real flexibility in access control, and easily adapts to all kinds of new-build and retrofit installations, from education and healthcare to banks and airports."

Smartair Wireless escutcheons are battery operated and have a wireless antenna on board to allow data to be transferred between the lock and the hub.

The system includes a wide range of products that can be adapted to different door types, including Smartair Wireless for panic exit devices, glass door solutions, wireless wall readers, electronic cabinet locks and an independent reader and handle design model.
