Wider Range Of Cameras Supported By Vemotion Technology

Vemotion Interactive : 09 December, 2010  (New Product)
Unmanaged network transmission of CCTV images is now available for a wide range of cameras from multiple manufacturers placing the choice of camera into the hands of the users
Vemotion Interactive, specialists in live video transmission over low bandwidth connections, has announced the completion of development work to enable the Vemotion technology to be used with a wide range of cameras now available on the market.

This development extends the use and value of Vemotion technology as it enables customers to use their existing camera hardware when required or, when new cameras are being purchased, frees them from restrictions so they can select the best camera for their application.

Vemotion enables Remote Video Surveillance by making it possible to transmit quality live video over unmanaged networks using low bandwidth, providing access from many more locations than supported by alternative solutions. CCTV cameras today have become increasingly sophisticated and being able to integrate with a wide range of different cameras enables use of the correct or most appropriate device for each particular environment. Examples include use of low light cameras for night operations, cameras with a powered pan-tilt-zoom for close surveillance and use of body worn cameras for police and security operations.

"In some cases in our market area, the transmission technology is locked in with proprietary equipment supported by the supplier," explained Stewart McCone, Managing Director of Vemotion, "In specialist cases this can mean that a customer requiring low bandwidth transmission of video has to use a camera which may not be best fit for purpose. This new Vemotion development work has removed that limitation."

The development work means that Vemotion capabilities can be used with any analogue camera input and selected IP Video sources. Typical IP cameras supported include AXIS and Mobotix. This freedom of choice is achieved using video input devices, capture cards and IP interfaces through camera APIs that allow the video to be retrieved from the camera directly.

"The camera is a key part of any CCTV operation. This development delivers to our customers the flexibility to use the technology in many scenarios and with many camera types," added McCone.
