WebCCTV used in animal behaviour studies

Quadrox Europe : 10 December, 2008  (Application Story)
Web based surveillance from Quadrox is being used in UK university for the study of animal behaviour
Quadrox announces that WebCCTV has selected to be used in the animal behaviour research activity at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.

The Department of Clinical Veterinary Science of the university carries out observational and experimental studies of animals in the field or lab. The research requires an effective surveillance solution which would allow the researchers to perform the following tasks:.

* Visualise the recordings in all applications used within the university.
* Easily attach analysis data to the recordings.
* Run advanced video intelligence on the native recordings.

The university uses multi level video intelligence to monitor animals. First real time video intelligence is applied on the relevant video segments. Post-processing algorithms are run to further analyze the behaviour of the animals. WebCCTV native recordings are made in Advanced System Format (ASF), which allows them to be visualised and processed in any standard-based application. Currently the scientists are successfully carrying out research on well-being and productivity of hens and roosters. For this purpose 36 surveillance cameras have been installed in different poultry cages.

WebCCTV proved to be the right choice and helped to upgrade the productivity of animal research to a new level. Quadrox once again confirmed its reputation of the leader in standards-based video surveillance solutions.
