Vulnerability management services lead to continued growth at Guidance Consulting

Guidance Consulting : 18 December, 2009  (Company News)
Guidance Consulting is adding to its portfolio of service offerings as the company continues to show sustained growth on the back of increased demand for vulnerability management consulting services
Georgia-based IT consulting and staffing firm Guidance Consulting has recently expanded its comprehensive list of services to include an increased focus on vulnerability management and protection. These additional services come at a time when more companies are falling prey to online predators and viruses than ever before.

Since its inception, Guidance Consulting has always offered consulting and planning services related to information security. From disaster recovery planning and capacity planning to providing IT support employees, the company is a leader in technology solutions for companies of all sizes. This new expansion reflects a growing need among the company's clientele for more protection against computer menaces like spyware, denial of service attacks, and viruses.

"When you're looking at a virus operating at its peak, as many as one in twelve emails might be carrying some version of the virus," warns Guidance Consulting senior consultant Ronald Gottilla. "Those kinds of figures are scary, no matter what type of business you're in."

Even scarier are the figures related to rebuilding or restructuring a network damaged by some of the more malevolent types of viruses and attacks. The data recovery industry is booming, and U.S. businesses face combined costs of billions of dollars every year in fixing damages that have already occurred. Guidance Consulting believes these types of figures can be cut in half if companies take proactive steps in protecting their information, especially when it relates to workforce continuity.

"Most of these IT recovery costs actually come from lost customer sales during network downtime or because of a company's loss of reputation," says Gottilla of the billion-dollar estimates. "Actually repairing a damaged system is a one-time charge. But getting your customers to continue placing their trust in you after an information security breach - that can take years to overcome, and it can impact your bottom line for even longer."

That's why the new vulnerability management services offered by Guidance Consulting are aimed at first preventing disaster and then preventing damages should a disaster occur. "It's like putting up a safety net underneath a safety net," Gottilla asserts. "It might seem excessive, but it can mean the difference between a company that succeeds in today's economy and a company that doesn't. And that's something we're excited about being a part of."
