VMware Ready certification for Astaro security products

Astaro : 14 July, 2009  (New Product)
Astaro's Mail Gateway and Web Gateway unified threat management products have been certified as VMware Ready
Astaro has announced that the company has earned multiple VMware Ready certifications for its security products. The Astaro Security Gateway, Astaro Mail Gateway and Astaro Web Gateway have all been certified as VMware Ready after completing extensive validation testing and meeting strict criteria defined by VMware. Astaro is the only Unified Threat Management vendor to have VMware Ready certified products.

The VMware Ready program recognises solutions that are interoperable and optimised for VMware platforms. The program includes testing and certification for solutions that complement VMware's Virtual Datacenter Operating System (VDC-OS) and vCloud initiatives. Customers who use VMware Ready offerings benefit from the safest and broadest choice of solutions, reduced risk, and lower integration costs.

"Astaro has long offered its solutions as virtual appliances so customers can take advantage of the many benefits and cost savings associated with virtualisation. This deployment model has been a success for both Astaro and our customers; the number of organisations choosing virtual security solutions shows the importance of being able to consolidate IT hardware and reduce cost," said Andrew Fourie, Sales Director for UK and Ireland, Astaro. "This most recent certification further demonstrates our commitment to offering security solutions that can operate in virtualised networks. Of almost 1200 virtual machines listed in the VMware Virtual Appliance Marketplace, only 17 products currently carry this level of certification from VMware, and three of those are from Astaro. We are very excited at Astaro that our products support the new vSphere 4.0 platform."

Astaro has offered the Astaro Security Gateway as a virtual appliance for several years and has extensive experience in virtualisation. Astaro security products can be run within any VMware environment, allowing organisations that are standardising on Virtualisation to use Astaro to meet all their security needs.

"The current economic climate means that organisations are looking for their IT investment to provide greater value to their business. Combining Virtualisation with Astaro's all-in-one security products is therefore a great example of how to achieve more with less," said Jeff Orr, managing director of Stack Computers. "Astaro's certification as VMware Ready provides our customers with an additional proof point for how successful these technologies can be together."

The new VMware Ready initiative enables customers to quickly identify VMware partner products and solutions that are optimised for VMware Infrastructure. Products that carry the VMware Ready logo have passed specific VMware integration and interoperability criteria and are ready to run mission critical business applications and operations with full VMware support.
