Vista protection for London student accommodation

Vista CCTV : 28 August, 2009  (Application Story)
DVR systems, cameras and monitors from Vista CCTV have been installed at the new Nido Kings Cross student housing facilities in London for greater levels of student protection
Vista protection for London student accommodation
Ensuring the safety and security of its residents, Nido Kings Cross student accommodation has used Vista CCTV cameras, DVRs and display monitors in its state-of-the-art facilities. The installation has been a great success at the contemporary building, whose facilities include a cafeteria, fitness centre, A/V room and laundry room - all located within the main complex.

An essential element in the overall design of the new facility was security, which was built into the development's brief from the start. To ensure the security aspect of the project was expertly handled, construction managers Bovis Lend Lease selected Lancroft (formerly known as GP Watson Networks) to carry out the conceptual design and installation. Dave Delaney, Services Manager at Bovis Lend Lease said: 'CCTV is generally seen as a standard requirement. As well as basic monitoring of key areas, we're now seeing new applications such as the integration of CCTV into lifts, and far more co-ordination between the mix of security systems.'

Externally, Vista VPD-3WP-P-C domes and VVRD4V9 fixed vandal resistant domes have been positioned to give a clear view of all entrances/exits, and at other strategic areas of the site, complemented with Vista VPC130D/N and VHE-23 static cameras in housings, to provide additional coverage where necessary. Internally, Vista VPD-1DP-P-S PTZ domes have also been deployed, covering all communal areas. The 75 Vista cameras installed around the building are connected to five Vista 16-way Triplex DVRs and displayed on four Vista VLFSM17 flat screen monitors.

Lancroft has used the Vista range of CCTV products for the majority of its installations. 'We really can't fault the equipment and have found it to offer a solution for most of our diverse applications,' says Steve Wiltermood of Lancroft: 'The quality of the Vista range ensures that we can propose their systems with the confidence of high-performance, every time.'

The installation of a Vista solution at such a high-profile site is a great compliment to the performance offered by the range. Needless to say Vista are delighted that their products will be keeping a watchful eye over successive intakes of students throughout their education for years to come.
