Virtual Identity Webcast organised by IBG

International Biometric Group (IBG) : 15 July, 2009  (New Product)
The International Biometric Group has organised a free webcast on Virtual Identity Trends, Technologies and Applications
IBG will host a free webcast on Virtual Identity trends, technologies and applications on 16 July 2009.

As individuals interact in environments such as Second Life, conducting transactions and establish virtual personal histories, new frameworks are required to deal with the issues of identity and personal identification.

Virtual identity elements can range from everyday elements such as email addresses to exotic elements such as virtual world personae and avatars. Virtual identity elements may be easily linked to traditional identity elements such as a name or a bank account; however, individuals may deliberately maintain separate, difficult-to-link virtual identities.

Disciplines and methodologies used in biometric identification and identity analysis can be applied to analysis virtual identity elements. Just as certain biometric identifiers facilitate high-confidence identification, certain virtual ID elements can be linked with high degrees of confidence to specific people. Further, the 'behavioural' aspects of virtual ID technologies reflect the use of behavioral technologies for biometric identification. IBG Director of Special Projects Michael Thieme will address these items during the webcast this week.
