Video analytics provide shopper counting system in Bellevue Square.

Mate Intelligent Video : 29 January, 2008  (Application Story)
Shopping centre surveillance system used for counting shoppers using video analysis capability of Mate Intelligent Video.
Mate-Intelligent Video and ACJ Technology Solutions have completed the first phase of a wireless, automated, real-time shopper counting network in Bellevue's premier shopping complex, the Bellevue Square Shopping Centre.

With over 500,000 square feet to manage at Bellevue Square, the Kemper Development Company needed a way to accurately track hourly and daily shopper traffic. 'We didn't have a way to effectively measure how many people were walking through our properties.' says Glen Bachman, Vice President of Operations for Kemper Development.

ACJ Wireless Networking Solutions, the integrator on the project, selected Mate's iSense, an embedded Video Analytics appliance with on-board camera to provide bi-directional counting of shoppers in real time. Counting data from the iSense appliances is delivered to Mate's Web Reporter database via a wireless network. Shopping Centre Managers are now able to access real time shopper traffic data via a web browser or have reports emailed to them on an automatic basis. 'The Mate iSense counting solution has proven to be over 95% accurate.' says Greg Skinner, President of ACJ Technology Solutions. 'The solution easily integrated with our current wireless network infrastructure at the shopping centre.'

Mate-Intelligent Video, also known for their video surveillance and behavior tracking solutions has developed customized products using Video Analytics to meet the demanding requirements of the retail market. 'Our edge of the network counting appliances coupled with web-based reporting provide facility managers with critical facility information, up to date and at their fingertips.' commented John Szczygiel, President of Mate.
