Vice President of Services Joins SecureLogix

SecureLogix : 29 July, 2010  (Company News)
New hire joins SecureLogix from Nortel to take on responsibility for consulting, customer support and managed services as the new Vice President of Services at the company
Former Nortel business leader Rod Wallace has been hired as SecureLogix' new vice president of services, with management responsibility over managed services, professional consulting, and customer support. Wallace has been working in the information technology sector for over 20 years. He most recently led Nortel's Secure SIP Trunking solutions team supporting integrated product and service offers to strengthen Nortel's position in the enterprise VoIP and SIP trunking markets.

A key driver for the creation of this new executive position is the company's progress in developing and delivering a new monitoring and managed security service for enterprise voice/UC networks. This ground-breaking Managed Security Service for Voice (MSSV) is focused on monitoring and protecting the enterprise from the unique threats related to voice/UC networks and applications, while also performing in-depth analysis to identify opportunities to optimize voice resources to reduce corporate expenses, prevent fraud, and enhance business operations.

"We've seen rapid success in our services business," said SecureLogix President Lee Sutterfield. "We unveiled our new managed service a couple of years ago to only a select group of enterprise customers in order to ensure optimal quality and responsiveness as we scaled. We knew there was growing demand for a managed service focused on the unique security threats and ROI opportunities in voice/UC because many of our customers were asking for it. Rod Wallace brings great industry knowledge and practical experience to our expanding services group. He will not only oversee and drive the expansion of our services business but will also continually work to build greater value into each service we offer to our customers. He is a perfect fit for this opportunity."

SecureLogix CFO Rick Jordan added, "We grew managed services revenues by 233% in the first six months of 2010 over 2009, and our overall services dollars from managed services, customer support, professional consulting, and product installation and training now represent more than half of our total 2010 YTD revenues. The managed service is now the second largest component of our overall services revenue, behind only customer care/support for our ETM System product line, which we have been selling and servicing for over 10 years. Based on current dialogue with customers and prospects, we expect continued rapid expansion in managed services revenue, as well as global geographic coverage."

"I worked directly with SecureLogix at Nortel as part of Nortel's Secure SIP Trunking solutions ecosystem," said Rod Wallace. "I am well aware of the tremendous value the SecureLogix solutions portfolio brings to traditional TDM, VoIP, and UC enterprise networks. The market is now entering a period of increased uncertainty as many companies begin looking at a transition to SIP trunking for the delivery of voice and UC services from their providers. In this transitional environment, there is even greater need for the kinds of enterprise-wide visibility, network situational awareness, ROI intelligence, fraud protection, and security policy enforcement capabilities provided by SecureLogix."

Rod Wallace most recently led the Voice Security and IP Trunking team for Nortel, a multinational telecommunications equipment manufacturer. Wallace held a variety of positions during his career at Nortel, including that of Global Network and Physical Security Professional Services lead serving both telecom and enterprise customers. Instrumental in growing the secure IP and security services businesses both in the US and abroad, he founded and managed a complete security professional services practice and developed the security framework and implementation standards for all Nortel products. Wallace also provided critical guidance on telecom infrastructure security to US, UK, Canadian and NATO governments following the 911 terrorist attacks.

Wallace began his career at Bell Northern Research, previously one of the world's premier research and development organizations in telecommunications. There, Wallace held management positions in Advanced Technology and Product R&D. He is responsible for the development and implementation of a framework for taking new technology concepts to market.

Wallace holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba and a Master in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto. He has sat on boards for privately-held technology companies, and holds two patents.
