VFS301 fingerprint sensor gains Frost and Sullivan Award

Validity Sensors : 08 January, 2010  (New Product)
Validity Sensors' biometric fingerprint sensor has been chosen by Frost and Sullivan for the New Product Innovation Award for 2009 for ergonomics and industrial design
Validity Sensors, a privately-held biometric sensor company specializing in convenient, secure and reliable fingerprint authentication solutions, has received Frost & Sullivan's 2009 New Product Innovation of the Year Award, for the non-AFIS Fingerprint Silicon Sensors market. The award is given in recognition of Validity's VFS301 fingerprint sensor and the Company's constant pioneering efforts in the fingerprint biometrics market.

"Validity's patented architecture and unique technology of separating the ASIC from the fingerprint sensor and using Kapton plastic for the sensor allow the Company to make a durable, high-performing fingerprint sensor. This technology also offers tremendous opportunities for product differentiation and innovative and value-added features for a better end-user experience," said Neelima Sagar, Research Analyst at Frost & Sullivan.

Validity's value-added features include the industry's first back-lit LED fingerprint sensors, industry-first colour sensors, and flush sensors. These features improve the performance of the sensor by offering better ergonomics and industrial design, leading to an enhanced end-user experience.

"We judged Validity's VFS301 sensor to be superior to that of its competitors across a number of key parameters, including performance, features and price, end-user satisfaction and overall aesthetics, which makes the product highly attractive," says Sagar. "We believe Validity's unique fingerprint technology and design offer significant advantages over other fingerprint sensors in the market today," she says.

"Validity is committed to leadership in identity validation and is continuously looking for ways to serve ever-increasing market and customer expectations," said Rob Baxter, Chief Executive Officer at Validity. "This award recognizes our significant contribution to this industry and underscores our ongoing commitment to providing innovative technology to our customers and end-users."

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation is presented to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its industry. Frost & Sullivan used several criteria to benchmark Validity's performance against key competitors, including innovative element of the product, value added features/benefits, and increased customer value, amongst others.

Frost & Sullivan's Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
