Vehicle mountable rugged computers on show at Police Conference.

GETAC : 11 October, 2007  (New Product)
GETAC exhibits its range of rugged laptops suitable for use in vehicles and with mounting capabilities for cameras and wireless equipment at Police Chief Association Conference.
GETAC showcases four models of versatile Fully Rugged notebook and convertible tablet PCs during the 14th Annual International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference.

Rugged GETAC models on display will include the new GETAC V100, a MIL-STD 810F and IP54 compliant notebook featuring an LCD screen that instantly transforms into a tablet PC. The highly portable 4.9-pound V100 offers ultra-quiet fanless design and includes a wide range of standard features, including a 10.4-inch screen, power-saving 1.2 GHz Intel Core Duo Platform Technology, 512 MB expandable to 2 GB of DRAM, 120 GB shock-mounted removable hard drive, Integrated Bluetooth, reversible waterproof camera, and a full menu of wireless networking capabilities - all housed in a water resistant rugged magnesium alloy case and ready for mounting in any emergency vehicle.

"The GETAC V100 exceeds every performance and reliability standard that law enforcement personnel demand from a Fully Rugged computer while offering a number of optional features not available elsewhere - including the largest display in the convertible category," said Mike Simek, Manager, GETAC Sales and Marketing. "The ability to instantly convert the V100 from a laptop to a tablet PC gives users the flexibility they need, while our security features offer them the confidence that their critical information is safe from the elements and the rigors of their job inside a waterproof, shock-proof and drop-proof magnesium alloy case."

The V100 offers a variety of advanced options, including a 12-inch LCD screen featuring a daylight readable screen and choice of digitizer or touch screen interface, as well as optional Integrated GPS, 3G and 802.11a/b/g functionality that keeps users connected whether they are in the office, in a vehicle or outdoors.

In addition to the V100, GETAC will display the Ultra-Rugged A790, the "Swiss Army Knife" of Rugged notebook PCs with the ability to survive and thrive in the harshest environments while providing extreme versatility, expandability and security features in a MIL-STD 810F and IP54 compliant package. It joins the more portable M230 Fully Rugged notebook, which combines high performance and an extensive litany of state-of-the-art built-ins and options in a Rugged MIL-STD 810F and IP54 compliant unit. GETAC had mobile workers in mind when it designed the M230 with a 14-inch XGA or optional 15-inch SXGA TFT LCD high resolution display - the largest screen available in a Rugged laptop format. Users will likewise benefit from GETAC's optional ATI M54 chip, which provides all the additional power needed for graphical applications.

The M230 also provides more storage (up to 120 GB) than competitive models and the ability to accommodate a wide range of plug-ins. Inside, it offers an Intel Centrino Mobile Technology and Core Duo L2400 1.66 GHz processor, 2 MB L2 cache, and 512 MG DDR2 (expandable to 4 GB). Outside, options include a sunlight readable display, touch screen, waterproof membrane keyboard, TPM 1.2 and Kensington lock security features, smart card reader and other upgrades. The M230 accommodates a variety of wireless options and an optional GPS receiver. The entire unit is enclosed in an attractive magnesium alloy case.

GETAC also will demonstrate the ultra-slim W130 Rugged Notebook, known for its lightweight durability as well as its high performance features and low power consumption. The W130 features Intel Centrino Mobile Technology with WWAN, a Dothan 1.6 GHz processor and optional touch screen and daylight readable display. Like the others, the W130 is compliant with MIL-STD 810F and IP51 standards for Rugged durability.

The GETAC V100, A790, M230 and W130 are available through GETAC authorised resellers.
