Vehicle Immobilisation Illegal From October 1st

Security Industry Authority : 01 October, 2012  (Company News)
Security Industry Authority licences for vehicle clampers are no longer valid as the practice has now been deemed illegal in England and Wales
Vehicle Immobilisation Illegal From October 1st

From Monday 1st October, it will be an offence to clamp, tow or immobilise a vehicle without lawful authority.

The SIA Vehicle Immobilisation licence will therefore no longer be valid in England and Wales. Licences will continue to be valid, and issued by the SIA, for use in Northern Ireland.

A Home Office fact sheet on the changes can be viewed on its website.

Vehicle immobilisation is already considered unlawful in Scotland and has therefore never been subject to SIA licensing.
