USB fingerprint scanner with FIPS compliance

Zvetco Biometrics : 07 May, 2009  (New Product)
The Verifi P6000 from Zvetco Biometrics brings biometric fingerprint recognition to the USB port
Best-in-class fingerprint authentication hardware manufacturer and network security solution provider Zvetco Biometrics has announced the FIPS-201 approved Verifi P6000 USB Fingerprint Reader. The Verifi P6000 is a logical addition to their P5000 product line, further expanding the capabilities of Zvetco's award-winning Verifi fingerprint readers. The Verifi P6000 provides increased grey-scale detail and contrast for superior image quality making it ideal for the most demanding large scale government projects. Certified to meet FIPS-201 standards and using UPEK's TouchChip TCS1 Fingerprint Sensor with Enhanced Image Mode (EIM) technology, the Verifi P6000 makes use of the same award-winning silicon fingerprint technologies that have made UPEK and Zvetco the leading biometric suppliers in the world today.

'With the simple addition of Zvetco's P6000 to existing smart card users government can realize significantly increased security by verifying the identity of the card holders. Given that the biometric information is already stored on the PIV card, this makes for a logical next step in the evolution of their system and network security. This is particularly useful within the Federal, State and Local Government, PIV (Personal Identity Verification) and FRAC (First Responder Authentication Card) applications,' said Zavi Cohen, CEO of Zvetco Biometrics. 'Moreover, Zvetco's new Verifiâ„¢ P6000 fingerprint reader is also suitable for large scale enterprise deployments where a premium is placed on the ability to enroll a wide variety of users. This technology complements FIPS-201 deployments with quick and accurate identification of an individual fingerprint, which enables us to fulfill the vision and directives of HSPD-12'

US General Services Administration (GSA) approval will enable government-wide acquisition through GSA's Approved Products List (APL) for FIPS 201 implementations and achieves compliance with the image quality requirements for single finger capture devices used for the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) of Federal Employee and Contractors defined by FIPS 201 and mandated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12).

'UPEK is pleased Zvetco has selected the TouchChip TCEFB1C USB fingerprint module for their P6000 solution. UPEK developed the TCEFB1C module to simplify the integration of the TouchChip TCS1 Fingerprint Sensor, the only FBI and FIPS-201 certified silicon fingerprint sensor, into USB peripherals, notebook computers, handheld devices and other embedded devices where the size, power and cost advantages of the TCS1 deliver value for our customers.' stated Mike Chaudoin, Director of the Biometric Business Unit at UPEK.

Zvetco's Verifi P6000 is an especially ideal solution for protecting government desktops and networks everywhere. The P6000 is designed to facilitate government logical access -- the protection of personal computers and electronic data to help prevent the inside threat. The Verifi P6000 is also compatible with most fingerprint enterprise software solutions such as BioCert®, Bioscrypt, ActivIdentity, and other applications that support UPEK TouchChip fingerprint sensors. In addition, we are also compatible with several of the leading fingerprint SDK's such as Griaule Biometrics and Neurotechnology.

Zvetco's Verifi P6000 fingerprint reader stands out from competing products with its solid aluminum construction and commercial grade powder coat finishing for unparalleled durability and ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) immunity. This is a first step in our growing Verifiâ„¢ P6000 line of readers. Look for waterproof and mountable versions for outdoor and rugged environments soon! For specifications of the Verifiâ„¢ P6000 Fingerprint Reader and the UPEK TouchChip sensors, please view the data sheet at Zvetco Biometrics' Website.

The Verifi P6000 is available immediately as a stand-alone USB fingerprint reader for $259 US MSRP. Reseller pricing and quantity discounts are available for all Zvetco products. Zvetco offers private labeling for all hardware and a variety of software solutions for both client/server and desktop deployments.
