US security agency secures premises with MDI systems

MDI Security Systems : 12 June, 2008  (Application Story)
Government facility in Washington used by intelligence agency to benefit from end to end security installed by MDI
MDI has announced that MDI Security Systems and the MDI Professional Services Group have united their product and services expertise as prime contractors on the first phase of a three-tiered security systems project in the heart of Washington DC. The project will consolidate 1,500 government employees from 5 separate operating locations into a central office building in central Washington. The consolidation is being implemented to deliver cost savings and efficiencies in administration and management functions within the department.

Hardware and software products manufactured by MDI Security Systems (MDI) will secure the new offices. These HSPD-12 (FIPS 201) compliant security products will be designed, installed, tested and maintained by MDI Professional Services Group (PSG) to deliver a comprehensive systems solution to the agency. The first phase of the project will be staged and executed over the next thirty to sixty days.

This customer, one of MDI's numerous high-security government clients, is recognised as the largest organisation of its kind in the world. It operates under a primary charter to defend the laws of the United States and ensure public safety for all Americans against foreign and domestic threats. Several agencies within this Department operate as the enforcement arms of the Department of Homeland Security and assist in combating terrorism, investigating federal crimes, prosecuting online misconduct, corporate fraud and corruption.

"By combining the technical systems capabilities of MDI with the proven professional services expertise of the PSG team, we were able to rise above the competition as the only end-to-end solution capable of meeting the specific security needs of one of our nation's largest and most secure government agencies," stated Collier Sparks, CEO, President and Board Member of MDI.

"Our solution exceeds the unified security requirements of all government agencies and assists them in meeting the FIPS 201 and PIV mandates for Physical Access Control Systems (PACS). We deliver proven solutions that empower our clients to comply with HSPD-12, while keeping major components of their existing security infrastructure in place to reduce costs," he added.

Delivering this combined solution gives MDI a competitive advantage in the government marketplace because no other manufacturer is capable of delivering the end-to-end security solutions that are required by the customer today. The MDI Government Sales team is actively pursuing similar projects in the government market and is currently in negotiations with a number of agencies for similar combined prime contractor engagements.
